Some of what you can look forward to seeing and reading about :
1) We travel to Sudan and likely Uganda, Egypt and Kenya in August/September where we will be visiting suppliers, clinics and diplomats. We will be getting on the ground and really feeling out what needs to be done by way of educational materials , fundraising , outreach and supplemental agriculture. Pictures and blog will be updated often throughout our trip
2) Fundraising : visits to Rotary on 7/13/11. Global Grant writing. UNICEF , the Price Foundation. Lastly a volunteer put together concert in July featuring African Artists , date to be announced.
3) the San Diego office moves as we bought a new house to a bigger , more open space :)
4) Cynda is making a foray into sustainable hydroponic and aquaponic agriculture. This system which will be a combination of three to four water filled growing beds (in our garden in San Diego : strawberries , tomatoes and lettuce ) sustained with a barrel of tilapia fish whose presin our ecosystem feeds our plants along with knowledge and guidance from B street growers here in Golden Hill owned by the brilliant Sherilin Heise. They can be found at B Street growers on Facebook and the web. We intend to learn the ropes in our garden and take that knowledge to Sudan with the idea of supplementing diets and bringing local produce (and perhaps income for our education program ) to clinic grounds in a sustainable way.
